At  mccourts solicitors we are committed to ensuring the privacy of personal information that is provided to us.  The information collection, security, quality, use and disclosure of such information will be in accordance with the 10 National Privacy Principles (NPPs) which form part of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988.
Under the Act we are exempt from the application of the National Privacy Principles as to disclosing certain personal information we hold which is subject to our own, or our clients’ existing or anticipated legal dispute proceedings, which may prejudice negotiations, or which would be unlawful to disclose.  If we refuse to give access, we will provide reasons for our refusal.
We will generally store the minimum personal information about you required to effectively manage our business relationship.


We hold and collect personal information for the following purposes:

•    To provide legal advice

We may collect information from our website www.mccourts.com.au.  The only personal information we collect is what you specifically tell us, via online forms or via email, including email addresses.

When you visit our website we may use “cookies” to provide us with anonymous information on how people use our website and the pages they view.  We do not store any information that identifies users inside cookies.

We may disclose personal information to external service providers only in the event that we have contracted them to do work on your behalf.  Such disclosures will be on the understanding that the recipient abide by the Act.

We will endeavour to ensure the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up to date.  We encourage you to keep us updated on any changes that may occur.

We endeavour to ensure the security of personal information.  Our premises are in a building with 24 hour roaming security.  Our IT systems are password protected and we ensure our anti-virus software is kept current and up to date.  All employees, as a condition of employment are required to treat personal information as confidential.

We may review and revise our privacy policy.  We reserve the right to change this policy at any time and an updated version will appear on our website.
